You may have made the connection already but this bar is named after the street we are on. George Street was named for King George III who was monarch when the street was built. King George III has the distinction of being both the longest-living and longest-reigning male monarch.
As one of the oldest hotels in London, we feel we are kindred spirits. His reign lasted from 1760 to 1820 and given that Durrant’s Hotel has been here since 1789, it’s entirely possible that he came in for a drink.
History doesn’t record and who are we to say? All that matters is that you enjoy yours so please let us know if there is anything you need.
